Roll up your sleeves in support of homeless women at The Big Shift!
The Women’s Subscription Enterprise (WSE) exists to help break the cycle of poverty that is prevalent in so many Australian families. It is all about creating positive, generational change for homeless and disadvantaged Australian women.
The WSE provides women with safe and meaningful employment as Dispatch Assistants within The Big Issue distribution centres, packing and sorting magazines for subscribers every fortnight. The women not only earn an income but also gain important new job and life skills.
During Anti-Poverty Week, we want you to roll up your sleeves for The Big Shift, helping pack magazines alongside these inspiring women.
Following the shift, you will hear from guest speakers including Moya Dodd, a partner at Gilbert + Tobin Lawyers and FIFA Executive Committee Member, Louise Walsh, CEO Philanthropy Australia, and Marita Cheng, 2012 Young Australian of the Year, about the positive initiatives they are involved with that are creating real shifts in the lives of women in Australia and around the world.
