Helping people help themselves
In 2009, the singer-songwriter known as P!nk toured to support her album, Funhouse; it became the biggest tour in the nation’s history. Since then the 33-year-old American – born Alecia Moore – has become a mother and recorded her sixth album, The Truth About Love. In this edition, P!nk talks about love, life, motherhood and music.
‘The Big Quiz’ is back! Time to test The Big Issue smarts of friends, family and random strangers on the train; Tom Valcanis leaps to the defence of bouncers; Angela Meyer discusses home, belonging and the lure of Vietnam with author Emily Maguire; and in ‘Roving Eye’, photographer Richard Markowski frames what’s missing from a disused Melbourne paper mill.
This edition’s ‘Vendor Profile’ is Nathan from Brisbane, and we have ‘Streetsheet’ contributions from Adelaide vendor Mark W, Melbourne vendors Mariann and Owen D, and Brisbane’s Ted and Megan. Also appearing on ‘Streetsheet’ are some familiar Melbourne personalities: vendors Darren and Stephen were snapped with their Auslan interpreter Vicki, at the vendor launch of The Big Issue’s 2o12 Fiction Edition.
