Fame of Thrones

18 July 2014 #463

Cover Story: Fame of Thrones

He was in his forties when he landed the part of Tyrion Lannister in the wildly successful TV show Game of Thrones, but actor Peter Dinklage is glad fame didn’t come any sooner. In this edition, we talk to the star of HBO’s most-watched series ever. There is also a GoT ‘Bluffers Guide’ for those who have been living outside The Wall.

Also in this issue:

It’s back! The Big Quiz is here again, covering all the magazines from 2014 so far: including questions on jumpsuits, creepy-crawlies and pet pigs. How closely have you been paying attention?

We examine some colourful language, with Jonathon Green’s book on the history of expletives and Fiona Scott Norman’s take on ‘f-word’ overuse; Anthony Carew spins the 10th album of ever-controversial British music icon, Morrissey; and in ‘Roving Eye’, photographer Robin Layton documents the hoop dreams of people all across the USA.

The star of this edition’s ‘Vendor Profile’ is Greg from Melbourne. And we have ‘Streetsheet’ contributions from Kerry Anne in Adelaide; Maree in Canberra; Glenn F, Stuart B and Kerrie in Sydney; and Jessica in Perth. We also have a great photo of Geelong’s multi-talented Big Issue vendor Daryl, with some of his beautiful paintings.
