Helping people help themselves
There’s enough bad news in the world, so this Big Issue is just about making you laugh. In this special Big Comedy Edition, we bring you comedic writing from some of the biggest names and exciting upcoming stars in Australia’s comedy scene, who are set to tour around the country – from Adelaide Fringe and continuing on through Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Look out for hilarity from Lehmo, Frank Woodley, Susie Youssef, Damian Power, Nick Cody, Dilruk Jayasinha, Mel Buttle, Cal Wilson and Tom Ballard.
Also in this issue...
Ruby Wax reflects on her rebellious youth, survival through comedy and interviewing Donald Trump in her Letter to My Younger Self; resident Big Issue cartoonist Andrew Weldon brings us a full-page funny about fitness fads; Rachel Weisz talks about her new film in the context of the post-truth world; and in Big Picture, a photographer proves laughter really is the best medicine when he dons a pink tutu to help his sick wife.
The star of this edition’s Vendor Profile is Kellee T from Perth. We have Streetsheet contributions by Adrian from Sydney; Natasha G and Pat L from Perth; Marcus and Donna from Melbourne and John S from Brisbane. We also have a great picture of State Manager Matt Stedman saying farewell to longtime Adelaide vendor Gerry, who is retiring from selling The Big Issue.
