We have two big reasons to celebrate this fortnight after clocking up 18 years and nine million Big Issue magazines.
Thanks to our readers, we've put $19 million into the pockets of homeless and disadvantaged people since The Big Issue was launched in Melbourne in 1996.
With your support, we have provided work opportunities to 4500 people and expanded the magazine to all corners of Australia.
Big Issue vendor Dave (pictured) has sold in most capital cities around the country over the past 18 years, making him one of our longest-serving vendors.
"I haven't looked back since I started selling," says Dave, who is now based in Sydney. "It gives me stability, a reason to get out of bed in the morning. It's helped me enormously."
Help us celebrate our 18th anniversary and nine millionth magazine by picking up a copy of The Big Issue this fortnight (6-20 June) and encouraging your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
Every sale supports vendors like Dave, giving people in need a hand up, not a hand out.
Thanks for your support. We couldn't do it without you!
