Where can I find a vendor to pick up a copy of The Big Issue?

If you live in a capital city you shouldn’t have to go far to find your nearest vendor.  But if you are still finding them hard to spot, contact your state office of The Big Issue and they can point you in the right direction.

I live outside the city in a town where there are no Big Issue vendors nearby. How can I get my hands on a copy of this great magazine. Please help!

The good news is that you can also subscribe to The Big Issue and have it delivered every fortnight to your door. By subscribing, you’ll help homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged women through our Women’s Subscription Enterprise.

Is The Big Issue a religious or political magazine?

No and no. We do run some articles and opinion pieces relating to current affairs but we don’t have any religious or political affiliations and we don’t have a religious or political agenda. Our purpose is to inform and entertain so that readers will buy the magazine, putting money into the pockets of our vendors.

Can I contribute to the magazine?

Yes! But please, please read our contributor guidelines before pitching. This will save our time and yours! Once you’ve read the guidelines, send an outline of your ideas here. Email is better than phone. Don’t worry, your pitch will get to an editor. If we’d like to follow up your story idea, we’ll get in touch.

Do you have an internship program?

Our editorial team is very small and unfortunately we don’t have the resources to offer a formal internship program. However, if you’re super-keen – it won’t hurt to send in your CV and a cover letter to editorial@bigissue.org.au. We’ll keep it on file and contact you if a suitable opportunity comes up.

How often is The Big Issue published?

The Big Issue comes out fortnightly.

How do I contact the music, DVD, books or film editor?

Send an email to editorial@bigissue.org.au and we’ll forward it on to the relevant arts editor.
