Sir David Attenborough is more recognisable than some of the animals he has described in his documentaries. In this edition, we present a close encounter with this intrepid octogenarian – who is still working and will visit Australia in August.
In keeping with our animal kingdom theme: Debbie Lustig describes a dark day stalking duck-hunters in Victoria; and Paul Mitchell traces the long campaign to save sea lion habitats in South Australia. Elsewhere, David Michael talks fairytales and the future with Twilight’s Kristen Stewart; Doug Wallen heralds the return of R’n’B great Bobby Womack; and, in ‘Roving Eye’ we look at hope and hardship in the shanty towns and prisons of Jamaica.
This edition’s ‘Vendor Profile’ is Jason from Melbourne, and we have ‘Streetsheet’ contributions from Diane and Mark JW in Sydney, David and Frank in Perth and Ken in Melbourne. Also in ‘Streetsheet’: Judith from Melbourne models winter woollies sent by an admiring reader; and we remember former Perth vendor Mark, who recently died after a long illness. He will be missed.
