Tired of being tired? Turns out you’re not alone. 40% of Australians are not getting enough sleep. And a third of us suffer insomnia at some point in our lives. With the government launching an inquiry into our sleep health, we look at the history and politics of sleep – and how we may have been misunderstanding sleep for centuries.

Plus, we invited Big Issue vendors from around the country to write about what it’s like trying to sleep when you don’t have a place to call home. As Rachel from Sydney says: “To me sleep is just a concept that people like me don’t feel.”
