Fiction edition launch

ATTENTION FICTION LOVERS: we’re launching our 10th annual fiction edition on Friday 29 August.

The special edition will feature 12 stories around the theme ‘Take Me Away’.

Our fiction edition has become an annual highlight of the publishing year, with past editions featuring some of the biggest names in Australian literature including Christos Tsiolkas, Chris Womersley and Frank Moorhouse.

This year, submissions were open to both established and emerging writers, with stories judged ‘blind’ without names attached. Stories were chosen from more than 400 submissions and will be published alongside illustrations by NSW-based artist Michel Streich.

Featuring 16 extra pages – thanks to the support of a grant from the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund – the 10th fiction edition will be available nationally until 12 September.

Special launches will be held as part of the Melbourne and Brisbane writers’ festivals, where our Editor Alan Attwood and a panel of Big Issue contributors will celebrate 10 years of the fiction edition and discuss this year’s stories.
