Bookshops and The Big Issue A Match Made in Reading Heaven

Bookshops and The Big Issue go together like strawberries and cream, Holmes and Watson, reading and writing.

You'll often spot a friendly Big Issue vendor standing out the front of bookshops and libraries. Vendors like Ted, pictured above, who often sells outside Avid Reader in Brisbane.

For many people, buying a Big Issue magazine after visiting a bookshop is the perfect way to add to their (new) reading pile - and give back to the community by supporting a vendor.

With the current magazine focusing on literacy and empowerment through reading - and sporting that big bold WHY BOOKS MATTER catchcry on the cover - we thought we'd take the opportunity to plug some of the bookshops where you can frequently find Big Issue vendors selling magazines out the front.

We highly recommend buying/borrowing many books from these bookshops/libraries. And - of course - buying a Big Issue from a vendor on the way out.

If we've missed any bookshop or library locations that you frequently see Big Issue vendors selling at let us know – on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or via email.
