Queensland Police work The Big Issue

Police officers on the streets of Brisbane looked a little different last week. They donned the fluoro Big Issue vest over their regular uniform for our annual Police on Pitch event.

Queensland Police joined Big Issue vendors on their pitch, tasked with selling as many copies of The Big Issue magazine as possible in 30 minutes.

Senior Constable Carl Williams, with guidance from vendor Brian, sold a record 12 copies in 30 minutes!

Police on Pitch, now in its fourth year, helps to raise awareness of The Big Issue and gives vendors the opportunity to reach new customers.

Big Issue vendors love the event – having the support of the men and women in blue is a reminder that they are a valuable part of the community and people see that they are working hard to improve their lives.

We’d like to give a big thanks to Senior Sergeant Dan O'Connor, Sergeant Eric Van Boxel, Senior Constable Carl Williams, and Police Liaison Officers Josh, Sam and Simon for taking part!
