Team Big Issue Crosses the Bridge to Brisbane

Not even the relentless rain could dampen the spirits of Team Big Issue, who raised more than $6,500 in the Bridge to Brisbane last Sunday.

Eleven street vendors and five Big Issue staff and supporters signed up for the five-kilometre course to raise money for The Big Issue in Queensland.

Together they walked 80 kilometres in the wet – or an incredible 100,000 steps.

Vendor Alfred, who has trouble with his knees, was last to finish. In the Bridge to Brisbane 2016 Alfred took part on his mobility scooter, but this year he was determined to walk the whole course.

He received a standing ovation when crossed the finish line!

The generous donations to Team Big Issue will make a difference to homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people in Queensland. They will help The Big Issue provide life-changing support and opportunities to people who are trying to break the cycle of poverty.

If you’d like to give to Team Big Issue, it’s not too late. You can still donate here. Gifts $2 and over are tax deductible.
