City2Surf 2019 - A message from Big Issue vendor Trevor

Next month a group of over 20 New South Wales vendors and Big Issue staff will band together to walk, run and roll the 2019 City2Surf. They are aiming to raise $25,000 for NSW vendor support, but they need your support to get them across the finish line.

Below is a message from one of our #TeamBigIssue vendors, Trevor

My name's Trevor and I'm a Big Issue vendor in Katoomba. I've been selling the magazine for around 14 years now and it has changed my life in many ways.

The Big Issue has helped me mentally, I’ve never been so happy. The other great thing about it is that it’s made me a better person towards others, it even helped me to meet my wife!

I first started selling the magazine at Wynyard at George St and gradually moved down to Jamison & George St. After I got married, I decided to go to the Blue Mountains and sell where I live. I started up in Katoomba eight years ago and have loved going to work since.

I tried doing the City2Surf four years ago but only managed to do half of it due to health issues. But I am motivated to do it this year because I want to prove to myself that I can actually make it up Heartbreak Hill. I feel a lot better about myself this year and have recently lost a lot of weight.

The magazine has helped me realise what I can achieve when I really put my mind to it and completing the City2Surf will prove that once again.

If you can, donate to our City2Surf team because the people who are doing it are really inspiring. For some of our vendors, it's a big step to get out and take part.

All donations over $2 to #TeamBigIssue are tax deductible. The donations raised will support the work of The Big Issue and go towards continuing to change lives across NSW.

Donate today!

Thank you for your support.
