Statement: Our response to COVID-19

The Big Issue has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and has put a number of measures in place to prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our vendors, staff, volunteers and customers.

Our dedicated staff are working with vendors all around the country to provide guidance on the best self-care and health practices, and we continue to collaborate with other community and government agencies to help vendors access up-to-date advice and support.

We are minimising vendor gatherings, increasing cleaning practices in vendor support offices, equipping vendors with digital payment devices, reviewing pitch locations and offering vendors with extra support with accessing services. 

Importantly, we are helping to support Big Issue sellers to continue to earn a living by safely selling the magazine during these challenging times.

We are continuing to publish our well known and much-loved magazine each fortnight, with a new issue available every second Friday, and are working hard to find new and innovative ways to support sellers.

We encourage you to continue to support our sellers by continuing to buy a copy of the magazine from your local vendor.

If you are self-isolating, or working from home and can’t access our vendors, we encourage you to continue supporting The Big Issue by subscribing to the magazine.  You can do this on a month-to-month basis here.

We will continue to monitor this ever-changing situation and provide updates to our vendor group and our valued supporters over the coming weeks.
