Update: COVID-19 24/3/2020

The Big Issue is continuing to closely monitor the ever-changing COVID-19 situation, and follow ongoing advice from government and health authorities, to  prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our vendors, staff, volunteers and customers.

Our dedicated staff are working with vendors all around the country to provide guidance on the best self-care and health practices, and we continue to collaborate with other community and government agencies to help vendors access up-to-date advice and support.

At this stage we will continue to support our vendors to earn a living by selling the magazine under updated health and safety protocols. The Big Issue is continually reviewing the situation and will cooperate with all regulators to ensure the health and wellbeing of vendors and customers as this unprecedented situation develops.

With the streets clearing and the challenges for those living on the margins who rely on selling The Big Issue increasing, we are exploring other ways to support our workforce during this challenging time.
Subscriptions to the magazine are also available on a month-to-month basis through The Big Issue website, with a new copy of the magazine delivered to your door each fortnight. By subscribing to the magazine, you’ll be supporting our long-standing Women’s Subscription Enterprise.

Donating online is another way to support The Big Issue as we continue to develop ways to help people help themselves during this unsettling time. Donations will go towards vendor support programs and can be made online through our website. Donations are tax-deductible.

Finally, as we all know, social connection is one of the most important parts of selling The Big Issue magazine and is so important for the wellbeing of our community. If you’d like to send a message your local vendor, please comment or message us on our social channels, or email submissions@bigissue.org.au and we’ll pass it on.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this challenging time.
